This biome here is the Desert biome. This biome is a sandy, rocky biome, with little precipitation and little plant life. Some of its characteristics are; mid latitude, it's generally very hot with cool nights, and the desert can be hot or cold but is always dry. The largest hot desert is the Sahara Desert and the largest cold desert is the Gobi Desert. Some of the animals in the hot desert are rodents, lizards, snakes, camels, and lots more. The animals in the cold desert consists of kangaroo rats, pocket mice, antelope ground squirrels, and several different lizards. All animals have to have thick coats and they always dig burrows so they can stay out of the cold when it gets very harsh. Some of the plants in the hot desert consist of cacti, yucca trees, and short shrubs. Plants are scarce in both hot and cold deserts. Some of the plants in the cold desert are a few grasses and some mosses. There is not a lot of plant life here because of the freezing cold temperature. Some of the biotic things in this biome (both hot and cold) are plants, animals, and mosses. Some of the abiotic factors of this biome are the temperature, the air, the sunlight, and the rain (almost none). The environmental problem for the desert (hot and cold) are that human activities are ruining the environment, such as grazing animals. The solution to this problem is to use the grasslands for the animals to graze for a while, and then bring them back to the desert when the plant population grows. Another problem in both hot and cold deserts are that when people visit the deserts they mess up the environment by touching the animals and plants. The solution to this problem is don't touch anything (unless required) important to the plant's and animal's habitats. In this example of a food web (left) (hot only) the producers are the cactus, the sagebrush, the grass, and the seeds. The consumers are wild goat, jackrabbit, the termite, and grasshopper. Examples of secondary consumers are skunk, ardwolf, and cactus wren. The decomposers are puma and the grey fox. And the sun provides all the energy.
